Ken wants to put this type of hedge in our yard in his own way.


We were having trouble uploading pictures yesterday, so added more this morning. After blogging last night we stopped at a pub for dinner. We parked the car, but weren't sure we were legally parked. Ken asked a gentleman that was walking by. He said we were fine, then quickly turned around and came up face to face to Ken. "Where are you from?" We are getting used to this question, so always explain which Washington we are from. He said "Right. My wife is American and we are reading a book about Benjamin Franklin. I find the prose convoluted and too many sub plots". Ken said "I haven't read it" and laughed a little nervously, as this guy was intense. He just then turned around and walked away. It was the funniest encounter that we had. Sadly, the pub we went in had quit serving food at 2pm. It was full of boys having a good ol'time, and was a 17th century original. We would have liked to have stayed, but we needed food !

Lesson for the day....we learned that a hamlet is a place with a church and a pub and less than 25 houses. A village has a church, a pub and more than 25 houses. A town is bigger, and a city has a cathedral.
